Eastern Connecticut Football Officials
A 26-year veteran of the Eastern Connecticut Approved Football Officials, Jack MacDonald is known for his easy-going style and talkative nature, even in tight situations. Always willing to help those who need it, he has become a favorite to players and coaches at all levels of the sport. When confronted with a coach who gets too boisterous, he diffuses the situation with, "I'm not out here for that. I'm out her for the kids. In fact, kids have played an important part of his life as a past Little League coach and president of the East Lyme Little League. His son, John, is an infielder for the Toronto Blue Jays which is OK with the longtime New York Yankees fan. He's mixed some Blue Jays memorabilia in with his Yankees collection. Through the years, the ECAFO has tapped into MacDonald's organizational skills, electing him through its offices and electing him president in the 2007-2008 term. Besides the administrative positions, MacDonald has chaired the board's Clinic Committee, and Banquet Committees, and served as a member of the group's executive board. The board has duly noted his abilities on the field, as he has worked CIAC semi-final assignments in 2004, 2006 and 2008, and championship games in 2005 and 2007. He doesn't limit his officiating to the stripes. He is an active baseball umpire and works the hardwood in the winter. Married to his wife, Joanne, the couple has two children, John and Denise, and three grandchildren.
